Galoshes and the Children's Garden Update on Delacorte Campus

Manhattan's Stepping Out has donated their surplus of children's galoshes!  The Children's Garden remains muddy after last week's rain.  These rubber overshoes are durable, and designed to slide easily over sneakers as well as shoes.  Undershoes will now stay dry (and clean) during daily science activities. The Firstyears' sunflowers have grown mighty tall this season!  What's their secret?  Professor Tipperwill's blog noted that the Secondyears' tubers need special attention immediately given the garden's sogginess.  She has scheduled an early morning Powerpoint Lab in the Prairie Room with our little "Tuber Farmers" tomorrow.

ScienceKitchen Time is already filled up for the rest of the week. Fourthyears got a head start on their annual project ... seems we have some budding chefs among this class.  They have begun testing the enormous range of recipees researched last week for our Campus Thanksgiving Menu. Thirdyears enjoyed a curriculum-rich visit to the Washington Square Farmer's Market on Saturday morning.  They could barely wait 'till Monday Morning Assembly to present the Fourthyears with that bountiful array of tuber types.

Your Child Advocates  may now order online for this evening's galoshes delivery for each class.  Please ask Advocates to review and select a suitable routine for children's ongoing care and storage of their new galoshes.  Direct your assistants to document: Feedback Systems and Levels of Responsibility.  Advocates should then schedule a fifteen minute block of today's Council Time to propose three alternatives for integrating a model training piece into Thursday Afternoon's Assembly.  Tapping into the intrapersonal, interpersonal, and naturalist intelligences for this assembly is advised.  The other five already received lots of press (http://www.gp-training.net/training/educational_theory/multint/multint.htm).

Background information and instructional resources for galoshes can be read in today's Ready OnlineFifth Years may object to engaging the extra time it takes to put on galoshes before they get outside to their garden projects.  Background knowledge resources will help you stimulate their capacity for fascination and conversation.   Making multiple connections with  help them warm up to the idea of incorporating an additional habit (galoshes) into their "normal garden routine."
Please have the children post their "Points of Fascination" on campus BigScreens and HomeNewsBlogs so that all Advocates, Guardians, Councils, and Consortiums have easy access.

P.S. I am now seeking sources of adult galoshes for each educator.  the Global Parent Network is actively searching as well so that all guardians can stay clean and dry during weekend garden visits. Let's vision multiple colors for the grownups!  (Please post any leads in the HomeNewsBlog.) Thank you for all you are and all you do!
